Ropinirole Tips from Pharmacists

  • Ropinirole can cause sleepiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do any dangerous activities until you know how this medicine affects you.

  • Get up slowly out of bed to avoid falls due to lightheadedness.

  • Stopping ropinirole suddenly can cause withdrawal symptoms. If you wish to come off this medicine, your doctor will tell you how to lower the dose slowly.

  • You can take this medicine without regard to meals. But if ropinirole causes gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea and stomach upset, taking it with food might help.

  • Avoid drinking alcohol while on ropinirole. Alcohol can make side effects like drowsiness and dizziness worse.

  • Tell your healthcare provider if you start or stop smoking during treatment with ropinirole, as this can affect the effectiveness of the medicine.
