Ropinirole Side Effects

Possible side effects of ropinirole are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Gastrointestinal side effects like stomach pain, heartburn, gas, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, decreased appetite, weight loss
  • Drowsiness
  • Dizziness
  • Headache 
  • Fatigue
  • Weakness
  • Flushing or sweating 
  • Confusion
  • Memory problems
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Anxiety
  • Sudden uncontrolled movements or shaking
  • Decreased sensitivity to touch
  • Urinary frequency or urgency, pain with urination, difficulty urinating 
  • Erectile dysfunction in men (difficulty getting or maintaining an erection)
  • Pain, numbness, tingling, or burning in the hands or feet
  • Back pain, muscle pain, joint pain
  • Swelling of the limbs
  • Dry mouth

Ropinirole can also cause some serious side effects. Call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical attention if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Mental status or behavior changes (confusion, hallucinations, paranoia, delusions, aggression, agitation, unusual urges)
  • Chest pain
  • Slow, fast, or irregular heartbeat
  • Fainting
  • Skin rash, hives, itching
  • Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat
  • Trouble breathing or swallowing 
  • Shortness of breath
  • Changes in vision, such as double vision

Ropinirole Overdose: In case of an overdose, call your doctor immediately. You can also call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. Call 911 if someone has lost consciousness, collapsed, is not breathing, or has had a seizure. Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, fainting, nightmares, agitation, hallucinations, confusion, sweating, fear of being in closed spaces, uncontrolled shaking or body movements, chest pain, fast or irregular heartbeat, cough, and weakness.
