- Zovirax is not a cure for HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) or VZV (VaricellaZoster Virus).
- Treatment dosing requires up to five times a day dosing which can be cumbersome.
- Treatment with Zovirax will not prevent future outbreaks
- People with kidney disease will need lower dosing based on their renal function.
- It is unknown if taking Zovirax will lower your risk of passing HSV (genital herpes or cold sores) to someone else.
