How To Use Fluticasone Propionate?

Fluticasone propionate comes in the form of a liquid released as a fine spray, which you spray in each nostril. To relieve hay fever, allergic rhinitis, and non-allergic rhinitis in adults, the usual dose is 2 sprays in each nostril daily. Your doctor may ask you to use a lower dose of fluticasone propionate nasal twice a day.

If you are using over-the-counter Flonase Allergy Relief, follow the patient instructions in the package carefully. Fluticasone nasal provides relief from symptoms of allergic rhinitis and non-allergic rhinitis but does not cure these conditions. Contact your doctor if you do not get symptom relief or if your symptoms worsen after using OTC Flonase for one week.

If you are using prescription fluticasone propionate nasal, use it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist directed. Follow the directions on your prescription label. Do not use more or less of this medication than instructed. Fluticasone nasal works best if you follow a regular dosing schedule.

Your doctor may start you on a higher dose and then lower your dose when your symptoms improve. On the other hand, your child’s doctor may start with a lower dose of intranasal corticosteroids and increase the dose if your child’s symptoms do not improve.

Flonase Allergy Relief is for use in the nose only. Do not swallow the spray, and do not spray it into your mouth or eyes.

Do not share your bottle of Flonase Allergy Relief with anyone else, as this can spread germs.

Your bottle of fluticasone nasal spray contains a fixed number of sprays. Keep track of how many sprays you have used and dispose of the bottle after using the number indicated on the bottle, even if there is some remaining liquid (the remaining liquid may not contain the appropriate amount of medication).

Missed dose:  If you forget to take a dose of fluticasone propionate, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the scheduled time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store fluticasone propionate in a tightly closed container at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light. Keep all medications out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Throw away any expired or unused fluticasone propionate. Do not flush the medicine down the toilet. The best way to dispose of medicines is through your local waste disposal company or a medication take-back program. Learn more about proper medication disposal
