What are Fluticasone Propionate side effects?

Common side effects of fluticasone propionate include:

  • Temporary nasal irritation (burning or stinging)
  • Dryness in the nose
  • Bloody mucus in the nose
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Dizziness

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away. 

Some of the adverse effects of fluticasone propionate can be more serious. Contact your healthcare professional without delay or seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs and symptoms such as:

  • Serious allergic reactions with hives, rash, itching
  • Serious allergic reaction with swelling of the face, throat, eyes, lips, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
  • Severe facial pain
  • Thick nasal discharge
  • Whistling sound in the nose
  • Severe or frequent nosebleeds
  • Signs of infection such as fever, chills, sore throat
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Wheezing
  • Hoarseness
  • Feeling faint

Fluticasone Propionate Overdose: In case of a known or suspected overdose or if someone swallows fluticasone propionate, call your health care professional, the local poison control center, or the provincial poison control center immediately. If the person can’t be awakened, has had a seizure, or has trouble breathing, call 911.
