Hydroquinone (Blanche) Side Effects

Possible side effects of hydroquinone are listed below. Call your doctor if these adverse effects are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Irritation
  • Redness
  • Burning or stinging 
  • Peeling
  • Itching
  • Dryness
  • Cracking

Rarely, hydroquinone can cause more serious side effects. Stop using hydroquinone and call your doctor right away or seek immediate medical attention if you experience:

  • Skin rash, hives, itching (signs of an allergic reaction)
  • Ochronosis (blue-black or blue-gray discoloration of skin)

Hydroquinone (Blanch) Overdose: In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Contact your doctor or call the national poison control center on 1-800-222-1222. If a person has trouble breathing, cannot be awakened, or has had a seizure, call 911.
