How To Use Simethicone

Different products of simethicone come in different forms and strengths. Read the medicine label and instructions that come with the product package carefully. Take the medicine as directed after meals and at bedtime. Do not take more than 6 tablets or 8 capsules in a day without a doctor’s approval. Do not give a wrong product (meant for adults) to a child.

Swallow the regular simethicone tablets and capsules whole. Chew the chewable tablets completely before swallowing the medicine. You can mix the liquid form of the medicine with 30 mL of cool water, baby formula, or other liquids.

Missed dose: Simethicone is taken as needed for gas relief. If you are taking it on a regular schedule and miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose according to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take extra medicine or two doses to make up for a missed dose.

Storage: Store simethicone at room temperature (between 15-30° C or 59-86° F) away from moisture, heat, and direct light in a tightly closed container. Do not store medications in the bathroom where they can be exposed to moisture and heat. Keep all medications safely out of reach of children and pets.

Unused medicine: Unused simethicone should be disposed of in a way that children, other people, and pets cannot get to them. Do not throw simethicone in the trash or flush it down the toilet. The best way to properly discard expired or unneeded simethicone is through a drug take-back program or your local waste disposal company. Learn more about proper medication disposal.
