Cabergoline Side Effects

Possible side effects of cabergoline are listed below. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects if they are severe or do not go away in a few days.

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Heartburn
  • Dizziness
  • Tiredness
  • Breast tenderness
  • Painful menstrual periods
  • Numbness, tingling, or burning in the limbs

Rarely, cabergoline can cause more serious adverse effects. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop the following symptoms:

  • Skin rash, hives, itching (signs of an allergic reaction)
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing, especially when lying down
  • Swelling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
  • Back pain, flank (side) pain, or groin pain
  • Stomach pain or lumps in the belly area
  • Decreased urination
  • Vision problems

The above list may not include all the potential side effects of cabergoline. Call your doctor if you have any unusual side effects or if the side effects do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Cabergoline Overdose: In case of an overdose of cabergoline, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center, provincial poison control center, or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If a person has collapsed, stopped breathing, is not responding, or has had a seizure, call 911. A cabergoline overdose can produce nasal congestion (stuffy nose), hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that don’t exist), or loss of consciousness.
