FreeStyle Libre 2 Uses

FreeStyle Libre 2 is a continuous glucose monitoring device made by Abbott Diabetes Care. It is used to check blood glucose levels in people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. The device provides the current glucose reading without the need for a blood sample from a fingerstick. It also features real-time glucose alarms that sound when glucose levels are too high or too low. The system consists of a sensor that is self-applied to the skin at the back of the upper arm, as well as a reader or smartphone app to scan and record the glucose readings.

There are other newer devices available from the FreeStyle Libre family, such as the FreeStyle Libre 3, which has many of the same features but is thinner and smaller.

There may be other uses of FreeStyle Libre 2—your doctor or pharmacist can give you further drug information.

FreeStyle Libre 2 Mechanism of Action

The device uses flash glucose sensing technology and advanced operating systems to provide real-time glucose readings.
