Insulin Aspart Side Effects
Possible side effects of insulin aspart are listed below. Call your doctor if the adverse effects are severe or persistent.
- Injection site reactions (redness, pain, swelling, or itching)
- Thickening or depression in the skin due to fat buildup or fat breakdown at the injection site
- Weight gain
Some of the side effects of insulin aspart are more serious. Call your doctor right away or seek emergency medical help if you develop the following serious symptoms:
- Allergic reaction (skin rash, hives, itching)
- Swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue, or throat
- Hoarseness
- Wheezing
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision
- Fast or irregular heartbeat
- Fatigue, unusual weakness, muscle cramps, muscle pain, constipation, or abnormal heartbeat
- Sudden weight gain
- Swelling in the arms, hands, lower legs, ankles or feet
The above list may not include all the potential side effects of insulin aspart. Contact your healthcare provider if the adverse reactions are unusual or severe or they do not get better over time. You can also report unusual side effects to the Food and Drug Administration at 1-800-FDA-1088.
Insulin aspart Overdose: In case of an overdose of insulin glargine, call your doctor immediately. You can also call your local poison control center or the national poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
An overdose of insulin aspart can occur if you take too much of the medicine or if you take the correct dose but eat less or exercise more than usual. An overdose can result in low blood glucose (hypoglycemia) and symptoms such as loss of consciousness and seizures. Talk to your doctor about what to do if you develop low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and follow these instructions (for example, your doctor may recommend taking glucose tablets or suggest you drink fruit juice).
