Triamcinolone Acetonide (TRIANEX) Tips from Pharmacists

  • Use triamcinolone acetonide only on normal intact skin. Do not use it on infected or broken skin.

  • The dental paste should only be applied inside the mouth to treat mouth sores. Do not apply the dental paste on other parts of the body. Use the dental paste after meals and at bedtime to prevent the medicine from being washed away.

  • Wash your hands after applying triamcinolone acetonide or other topical corticosteroids. If the product gets into your eyes, wash your eyes thoroughly and seek medical attention if eye irritation does not go away.

  • Don’t use occlusive dressings on the treated area. Dressings that don’t allow air or moisture to penetrate constitute occlusive dressings. If you are using triamcinolone on a child’s diaper area, avoid putting the child in tight plastic pants or diapers.

  • The aerosol spray is flammable until it dries. Do not use it near an open flame or heat or while smoking.

  • If you don’t see an improvement in your symptoms after 1 week of appropriate therapy, call your doctor. Do not continue using triamcinolone acetonide long-term unless your doctor tells you to.
