Zestoretic Uses

The combination of lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide (Zestoretic) is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).

There may be other uses of Zestoretic—your pharmacist or doctor can give you further drug information.

Zestoretic Mechanism of Action

Lisinopril lowers blood pressure by blocking a chemical that tightens blood vessels and thereby relaxing the blood vessels and allowing a smoother flow of blood. The other medicine, hydrochlorothiazide, helps in achieving greater blood pressure control by making the kidneys remove excess fluid and salt from the body.

Zestoretic Doses

The combination medication Zestoretic is available in the following dosages:

  • 10 mg lisinopril and 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide
  • 20 mg lisinopril and 12.5 mg hydrochlorothiazide
  • 20 mg lisinopril and 25 mg hydrochlorothiazide

Initial therapy with Zestoretic is usually at a dose of 10/12.5 mg once daily. Your healthcare provider may increase the initial dose based on your clinical response. The maximum dose of Zestoretic is 80/50 mg once daily.
